POP & SMTP Email Setup
Outlook Express Email Client:
IMPORTANT: The most common problem with sending email is that your ISP blocks external SMTP port 25, so you can receive email from our host servers - but you can not send email via our servers.
To solve this problem you will need to use the SMTP settings from your ISP (a per their instructions) while using the POP3 incoming settings supplied by us. More on this later.
Lets get started:
Tools > Accounts
Mail tab > Add
Add Mail
Your Name
Settings = mail.yourdomainname.com.au
IMPORTANT: If ISP blocks Port 25 you must use your ISP outgoing mail settings. Reference note in heading marked with *
Username password -
IMPORTANT: The account name / username often requires more than a username.
Our servers require the full email address to be used as the username:
username@domainname.com.au
If your email client will not allow this use: username#domainname.com.au
After - you 'finish' the wizard. Then select the account and click on properties - or you can double click the new account you just created to open the properties box.
You will need to check and make a couple of adjustments depending (see* below) if your ISP blocks port 25 or not. MOST DO!
Check Include This Account
Outgoing SMTP Mail Authentication on Servers Tab
Tick box next to My server requires authentication
Then click the SETTINGS button next to Outgoing Mail Server Requires Authentication.
A box will open -
1) tick "log on using" and enter your ISP provided SMTP outgoing email login / password to send email via your ISP SMTP server. Contact your ISP first if any difficulty sending email.
2) hit ok to save and close the dialogue window box
MUST APPLY
It's amazing how many people forget to use the 'apply' - and you're done!
IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR SPELLING / SETTINGS - or if that fails YOU CAN CONTACT US on 08 9304 8811 during regular business hours.
